1.The Telephone Records and Privacy Protection Act of 2006 (why do we keep repeating this?)

On January 12th 2007 President Bush signed H.R. 4709 The Telephone Records and Privacy Protection Act of 2006. It is now illegal to sell, transfer, or possess confidential phone records. Confidential phone records are defined in the act as: information relating to the the quantity, technical configuration, type, destination, location, or amount of use of a service offered by a phone company.

The Telephone Records and Privacy Protection Act of 2006 also includes an "Extraterritorial Jurisdiction" clause which prohibits foreign companies from selling or reselling any telephone records.

It is also illegal to obtain or sell the "LOCATION" of a cell phone, commonly refered to as "pinging".. Consequences include fines and up to ten years in prison.

8.Military Records At the moment, there is a very big upheaval in the way military records are maintained. Virtually all the services have ceased sending vet’s records to the NPRC in St. Louis.

That say it could take a month or more to get a record When making any request, you should take that literally. All military records are paper files – there is NO DATABASE that will give you ANY accurate information on a vet. The changes taking place in the DoD at this time are very confusing. 10-4.
