Background Checks

Background checks come in all sizes shapes and colors and prices. Saying for example,"I want to know everything"
is one, a request that can't be realized, and two, would cost a fortune trying to realize it. Background checks
essentially fall into two categories; Overt & Covert. An overt background check is one in which you have subject
authorization and written permission, usually an interview is conducted, and these types of background inquiries
are mostly for pre employment screening purposes. It would be extremely rare where you will find a friend, colleague,
spouse, fiance or your next door neighbor who would give consent to such an open examination.
We do not do overt background checks. If this is what you require, we can recommend someone in your area.

The second type of background check is "Covert". These are conducted without subject knowledge or permission,
nor is permission required, nor does the search leave a "footprint" i.e audit trail behind, ex, an inquiry left on the
subject's credit report. There is no link back to you, or to us, and the subject of the investigation is not aware her or
she is being looked into. Obviously the freedom that comes with these inquiries has a mirror side. If you can look into
someone without being observed, they can look into you. Welcome to the brave new world. Got something to hide?

A Word about Criminal Records Searching

Even in this age of the computer and digital database records, there is only one fairly reliable nationwide criminal inquiry in the U.S.
today. The N.C.I.C (National Criminal Information Center), which is a central repository for criminal record information that is available
only to law enforcement agencies for good reason. N.C.I.C has no internet access. Keep in mind most arrests do not typically result
in convictions and jail time.N.C.I.C will show arrests where there is no conviction

.

There have also been questions about the reliability and accuracy of the NCIC databases, even if you did have access to it, may not be the most
comprehensive way to find criminal records. N.C.I.C is purportedly replete with errors. Records are entered by human beings, and people make mistakes..

To conduct a comprehensive nationwide criminal record search on an individual you must first establish the jurisdictions that an individual has resided
and/or worked. This implies often searching at the county level. These can be difficult and time consuming because not all smaller counties have online access.
There is no substitute for
hands-on research of court records, which are much more reliable and accurate. Also keep in mind that in certain
jurisdictions, arrest records do not typically cover less serious offenses such as misdemeanors and traffic infractions
. In addition, federal arrest records (such as wire fraud or crimes
against the U.S. government) are both kept and prosecuted separately in their respective federal courthouses.

Below are a list of various searches you may be interested in on your subject. Some high privacy items that carry a lot
of legal baggage and consequences such as financial records, bank records, credit card records, ect, have been omitted.
When emailing us about a background check, you should have some idea of what your looking for. This saves us time and
you money in looking for a boat or plane you are sure the person does not own. If you have doubts, then it's worth doing
that particular search.
